WHEN A BOY TELLS YOU HE LOVES YOU BY EDWIN DODNEY!!

when a boy tells you he loves you,
it will be the first time you hear this.
It's late, and he isn't even there to tell you this in person; instead,
from a car ride home from a bar in Chicago, he is there on business.
Of course, you will smile because
he sounds like he means it,
because you believe him, because a boy has never handed those
words to you like crushed
blackberries in the palms of his
hands-firm, young, full, waiting
to taste sweet with you.
his arms, creeping vines, begging
to touch the sun in your face
saying, ''Here, take everything I
have ever touched to be closer to
you.'' His breath, waiting to be
folded into a love note passed in
between the nape of your neck
and his front teeth.
He will remember the time you
told him you felt safe in his mouth, and he will never grow
hungry. Just distant.
When a boy tells you he loves you,
you will hear music, the voice of your past lovers dancing up your,
throat, your stomach, and after-
hours cabaret still waiting on the last call.
That was when you learnt
when a boy says ''i love you'', he means
''I'm getting ready to be inconsistent with you.''
This boy will tell you that he loves
you not long after he had you waiting for two hours in front of a
cocktail lounge. Patience is
something you were working on,
but no, not for him.
When he asked you tell him that you love him back, you will
be in a car in a parking lot of a
late-night diner. You will watch
the words fall into your lap like a spilled glass of
white wine.
You will remember the day your
courier pigeon heart got lost in
the wind because that was a message you did not know how
or where to carry. And one by one,
the boys have fallen as silently as
the birds do.
so eloquently, they used to speak
until i asked the questions that
broke them into ghosts, that bled
me into a corpse with so many
questions of my own for the soil,
but their tongues do not know simple.
The things i should be hearing, the things that will make us living
men in this time of insatiable, yet
dying lovers.
When a boy tells you he loves you,
only to become silent like a folded
sheet of tissue paper, not wanting
you to decrease him into the truth,
do not crack your face into the fullest crescent moon at the tapered bottom
of a blackened sky.
He never meant a single word of any of it. He is just a boy,
remember? He is just another
silly,  sad boy, remember?

YOU MY EVERYTHING.

Sometimes I don't know how to feel when you not around. I  feel better just having you close to me. I mean anything you give me I will take it because you are all that I want.
Funny how everything just seems upside down when you gone. I constantly check my phone, hoping to find your text or voice messages. At times my friends think I'm going insane but I'm going insane with reason.

You mean more than anything to me. Yes I barely show it but it does mean I don't. Don't want you to leave my arms hey. Like it hurts me when you leave all the time. You marvellous I mean I fell for you, I don't want to share you, I know situations go wrong but I can stand my ground and say  my situation with can be messy but we always find a way out of it.
They say love is blind, well it must be, because I cant see me being without you.  I'm going to love you when you here with me and love you when you gone. Enough to love you when you with me and love you when you go.

I just had to emphasise that point.
Its either you or nothing. That's just how much you are my loving . I don't have the right words to express just how much you mean to me. I'm grateful each day for having you in my life. You that best thing I have been waiting on.

I had lost all hope in love but I'm too proud to say  you the best ... You made me realise relationships do take time to build. I can finally say that statement makes sense now. Only now it does.
I  hate it when you have to go for work because then I get to miss you insanely.
Sometimes I think we are little crazy, half the things that we do it amaze me and every time I'm with you baby, you rock my world boy, you better believe me.

What Do You Think?

Journalism is more of craft  and not a profession

Journalism involves identifying newsworthy information for the mass communication. Identifying, gathering and writing news are interdependent and of equal importance to the media. Therefore journalism concerns itself with the gathering and conveying news to a large, diverse audience through the media, whether print (newspapers, magazines, etc) or electronic (radio, television, internet, etc). (Clear, 2011)

2.1. WHY JOURNALISM IS REGARDED AS A CRAFT AND NOT A PROFESSION.

An article by Sam Smith states that journalism has always been a craft- an art- but never a profession. It depends too much on the perception, skill, empathy, and honesty of the practitioner rather than on the acquisition of technical knowledge and skill (www.prorev.com). A good example is when an Al Jazeera reporter was accused on Thursday, January 16, 2014 for fabricating news with the intent of harming Egypt's image abroad.(www.madamasr.com)

Journalism can be seen as a craft as there are more journalist out there with personal blogs with different information ranging from fashion to conspiracies without the necessary need to make a living out of it. The belief is that information is like air. It should be for free and not sold to the highest bidder. Hence, the passion is what drives most of these journalists to take it up as a craft because they do not want to be limited to what is seen as right or wrong by the media houses which they believe are mostly controlled by the same people who they are writing about.

Most people want to gain knowledge and become aware of national and international events. The media satisfy these needs most appropriately because of the variety of information they convey. However for the people to know the whole truth the information must not be diluted in this case happens with professional journalism whereby editors edit the information and make it more favourable to the government so as to avoid scrutiny from them.

The government plays a major role in the distribution of media all over the world, for it can affect the government positively or negatively and the people within that country. According to the article "many journalist have become glamour figure or immediate public personalities, especially those reporting investigating journalism, exposing corruption at the government level in South Africa. In fact, in the view of several social critics, journalists have become part of new society dubbed ''mediacracy,'' described as a public aristocracy of people important''. This shows how much power the government has over the media. Therefore, through mediacracy, free journalist practicing their craft are able to expose the truth with no limitations unlike a professional journalist who has to pass through an editor (sub-editor, etc) before publication.

Journalism as a craft shows that these type of journalists practice their craft for fun, making creative decisions and to pass time with the knowledge of giving out information that is of worth to the media. However journalism is also seen as a profession because one can make a living (earn money) through it. A journalist who makes a living through it works for specific media organizations. They gather information/ news during work hours and present newsworthy reports to the organization they are working for. (Clear, 2011)

It is a profession because it is a course offered in Universities all over the world. Many journalists go to colleges to get a degree and have that competitive advantage in a competitive field. Journalism is regarded as a profession because journalists receive instructions from the news editors and also gather news on their own initiative (which means that they not bound to the office or normal office hours) because they need to go out regularly to cover events in their effort to obtain information. (Clear, 2011)

A professional journalist works under pressure because he or she has to meet the medium's deadlines. they have to work with public relation practitioners and freelancers to fill this role because a freelance journalist does not work under a specific organization. Journalists often rewrite or change these news items before presenting them in the style of the medium. Journalism concerns itself with informing the general public, whereas public relation is all about informing internal and external groups. (Clear, 2011).

A professional journalist comes across various information when they go out in the field but out of all the information they would have conveyed it is possible that the news presented is not of worth or importance and need to search in deeper lengths for their story to be a front page. These journalists tasks is not easy for they have to present something to their editors and meet their deadlines unlike a free journalist who can present whatever information they happen to find whether it is newsworthy or not, to them its valid.

3.1.CONCLUSION

This assignment gave a broader understanding of why journalism is more of a craft than a profession. Various reasons have been discussed in relation to why it is more of a craft that a profession. This assignment covered what journalism means, what a journalist does and what role he or she plays in the media field. How messages are conveyed to the general public. It also looked at what craft means and how a free journalist practicing their craft can present to the general public as well.

This assignment somewhat gave a better understanding to both journalism as a craft and as a profession. However to conclude journalism is a craft because one is able to express their views, opinions, thoughts and making of ideas without discrimination, scrutiny, and judgment or selected words or pieces that should be provided to the medium or mass media.

Network

The spread of the network society in the most remote places and the deepest pores of the world.

‘‘Mobile and wireless technology will spread the network society to the most remote places and the deepest pores of the world’’ (Van Dijk 2006:59)
The truth in the statement above is as one illustrates in giving account of personal experience with the spread of mobile technology to even the most remote areas of the world. You find that in rural areas people within that society now have some sort of mobile phone that they use to communicate with either relatives than are in the urban areas or elsewhere. Network barriers have been put to accommodate both people in remote areas

To a larger extent I do agree with the statement above because worldwide technology is fast growing, as most research and information in now found electronically and on the internet, so basically internet services are growing to all parts of world varying from normal cable connections to wireless connections such as the ‘wifi’ services…..if we put mobile and wireless technology to the world it’s going to make communication channels easy for everyone. This makes communication much easier even in the most remote areas.

Mobile and wireless technology also contribute to our social lives by giving introduction of mobile phones which can reach out to the deepest part of the world. Mobile technology is advancing our ability to connect and share information in the ways that were not possible even a couple of years ago and wireless services coming into play are even making the processes fast than ever. Mobile and wireless technology play a huge role specifically in adolescences relationships. Mobile phone technology allows us to communicate with social groups in new ways, and to reaffirm those relationships, regardless of distance. (Lyon, 2010)

As we move forward technology has accelerated the pace of our lives, enabled us to connect to the web with a pocket-sized device and opened our lifestyle to the world in ways that were not possible only a few short years ago. We will explore mobile technology’s influence in a network society by exploring smart phones. Technology has grown rapidly within the past centuries. (http://sparxoo.com)

Mobile phones have a major impact on modern society as they are increasingly useful social tools. In 2004 "there were most almost two billion mobile subscribers world-wide’’. The majority of worldwide business uses this technology to communicate.

Mobiles have changed the way people organize activities, meetings and social occasions, and generally the way people go about living everyday life. Mobile phones have developed multi-features they are more than just a phone and can be used for sending text messages, taking photos, surfing the internet, playing music, using a calculator, maps, GPS, banking, radio, business’s such as voice memos, and are capable of an amazing amount of functions and some have many more functions than a computer, have the added bonus of high portability.

On the downside however mobile phones can break down personal barriers where a person can find it hard to have any personal time, or participate fully in their present environment without interruptions as the majority of people ever turn their phones, so there is always constant communication. Modern day society has formed a very strong reliance on mobile phones and have developed a need to be constantly contacted. Overall mobiles have a very large influence on relationships. (www.studymode.com)

There is a place in Zimbabwe were network coverage does not even exist in the deep pores of a small town call Rusape. The people within that community do have the knowledge of mobile phones and are aware of the social networks that are spreading widely but because that particular area does not accommodate the facilities of network coverage in order for those people to get network coverage they have to go in the mountains or in the town centre to communicate. But however the network facilities are trying by all means to have to spread the network society to accommodate even those in deeper remote places throughout the world.

So one could say the Van Dijk statement is true because not all remote areas were network capable but now are and you find that worldwide the network coverage is spreading out rapidly.

Women Make-up Lovers.

Why women wear make-up.

There are usually two general viewpoints towards women who wear make up every day: 1) “They look professional, put together, and ready for their day;” or, 2) “They are ‘try-hard’ and put too much effort into their appearance. Why not go for the more natural look?”

Well, I want to defend the women who do choose to wear make up more often than not. Not saying that those who go natural are not worth defending, but since I identify as a makeup lover — personally, I put a lot of effort and precision into doing my makeup some mornings — I will stand up for my fellow comrades.

1. Really, we just do it for ourselves.
Okay, do not get me wrong: I truthfully admit that sometimes the only reason girls wear make up to impress guys and sometimes even other girls. However, most mornings, I can honestly say the only person I put on make-up for is I. When I have makeup on, I feel good. I don’t feel ugly without it, but it gives me that extra confident boost that you need once in a while.

2. Its PURRTYYY.
Makeup is an art. When my friends ask me to do their makeup, I honestly feel more artistic than I have ever felt in my life. Personally, I’ve always felt like my creativity has staggered as I’ve gotten older. However, when I am doing makeup on myself or someone else, I feel like there are no limits. I can try out different techniques without out the fear of it “going to waste” because if you mess up, all you do is start over again.

3. It corrects thing that we cannot always correct on our own.
Confession time: I have horrible under eye circles. I have been self-conscious about my dark circles since I was 13. When I discovered the power of concealer, I was baffled because I had witnessed a miracle. My droopy eyes had turned bright and alert for once. Makeup is helpful when it comes down to the emergency situations: zits, blotchiness, and blackheads. These are all times when I need a little dab of foundation here and there.

4. it’s a way to be expressive.
When I see a woman with dramatic plum shadow, high-blushed cheekbones, and nude glossy lips, I can immediately sense a way in which she expresses herself. Some girls go for the natural look and others go for the dramatic, sexy look. Either way, I can gage a tiny part of their personality. My sister, who usually never ever goes dramatic, is far more reserved and quiet in a beautiful way. I, on the contrary, always go dramatic, which makes sense because people usually describe me outspoken and crazy. It doesn’t always work in that way, but more often than not, makeup says things about a woman they usually do not say on their own.

Needless to say, you are beautiful whether you choose to wear makeup or not. Don’t feel pressured to wear make-up because other women do. Do not wear it because you think you’re at an age where it’s necessary to start wearing it. Wear it because you want to. Wear it as a form of creativity and expression. And really, how can you not be tempted when you walk into Sephora? I firmly believe the gates of heaven will look something like doors of Sephora when I die. At the end of the day, have fun with your makeup and apply what you are comfortable wearing.

Secret To The World.

The secret to the world.
The world is often misunderstood. But it is what you actually make it. What you attract to the world is what you receive as a result.
It’s not complicated no.  People always complain that the universe or the world is being unfair, but truly speaking that is too far from it.
The world is what you make it. We are the authors of our own destiny. And we choose what to make of this world. What we all need to remember is that if you attract negative energy to one, so the secret to the world is constant happiness. No matter how things are going in the current situation you are in just always be happy and you will see changes to life.

Dream Vacation

My Dream Vacation.

I love to travel. The idea of moving from one place to the other has always been my dream. The place that caught my eye is an island in Bora Bora which is actually called Bora Bora Island.
Growing up I have travelled parts of the world because of my father’s job. I have always loved and still do love to travel. It basically my dream rather an obsessive passion I happen to have.

This island is calm and peaceful. I am loud and fun characteristic wise and having to go to such a scenery would be refreshing because then I will be calm and collected. Having to adapt to the environment, this will be such an adventure.

This place is quiet and sound. You will hear the sound of water because it’s underneath the rooms. It is one place I see myself going to in life. It’s a place I think would want to go to for my honeymoon. (Hides face). A dream that will come true in my life and I am working towards that. There is a glimpse of Bora Bora island.

Why I Hate Monday's

Monday.

1.  There’s absolutely nothing to look forward to about Monday
Let’s be honest. Your job sucks. The kids hate waking up early. Your commute is outrageous. Can’t we call it Sunday and just head back to brunch? What do you have to look forward to? This is just another boring day in a long line of boring days before and the boring days to come. It’s not like you have a grand scheme for pulling in more joy and peace into your life. What’s to look forward to when you have no vision for your life? How can anyone expect you to love Mondays when you have nothing about this day that is pulling you toward a brighter future? Monday is just another 8 hours in the office if there is no greater vision for how Mondays are working to bring meaning and satisfaction to your life.

2. Monday only likes to show you how terrible your life is in comparison to others.
Your boss just wants to show you pictures of his fabulous jet set life and the other worldly experiences he had this weekend while you splashed your feet in the backyard kiddie pool drinking beer with your best friend while your kids played with each other all afternoon. We don’t even have time to talk about the pictures your friends posted on facebook about the epic weekend they had. I mean what’s so great about meaningful relationships and simple pleasures anyway? Your deck has all this wear and tear from the years of gatherings but you’d rather post pictures of staying in a 5 star hotel half way across the world. As long as your boss keeps living the great life, and your facebook friends keep posting pictures, there will be absolutely nothing you could ever do to appreciate the life you have, right?

3. Nothing interesting ever gets done on Mondays.
Half of your coworkers don’t even bother to show up. Now you’re going to sit there at your desk waiting for lunch so you can get back to your desk and wait for the end of the day. Without a plan of action to bring in possibilities and wondrous experiences to the life you live, you’re absolutely right to hate Mondays. We can’t expect you to be happy about Monday if you have nothing purposeful to accomplish. It’s not as if you could fill your day with big and small achievements. It’s not like you could take steps toward that vision you set for your life. Today you are only facing another dull meaningless task list.

4. You always feel horrible on Mondays.
Have you ever noticed how bad you feel on Mondays? That cloud of blah that hangs over your head the rest of the week feels like an upgrade compared to what you feel on Mondays. It’s like the more you talk about how horrible you feel the more horrible you feel. Murphy’s law right? And what about those terribly perky people around you bouncing around with a smile saying syrupy sweet things like “Good morning” and “Today’s gonna be a great day!” I mean what’s wrong with them right? Who does that? Why do they get to be so pleased with life? Can’t they see it;s Monday? I wonder if they realize that how you feel is a choice and they can choose to temper that enthusiasm and excitement just a bit. I wonder if they understand that you are so committed to hating this day that nothing they say could ever get you to admit they make you feel even the slightest bit of joy. Didn’t he just get the same crap assignment you did? Why is he so happy? While you choose to speak doom, they are choosing to speak life. Same circumstances, different results. Maybe they can’t see the truth with all that sunshine beaming from their smile.

5. Monday is always going to be what it is.
Mondays are horrible and there’s nothing you could ever do to change that. It’s time we all admit that as the truth. Who are you to decide to that you deserve more love, peace and joy on a Monday? Who are you to think you could learn to show up with a sense of awe and gratitude about the possibilities that Monday brings? What makes you think you could just decide to turn that task into something you enjoy or see that project as a chance to learn something interesting? Where did they get the idea that you could just choose to be happy about Monday and actually expect to enjoy every bit of the day?

Power of Prayer

The power of prayer

We don’t make an effort to kneel and praise the lord. At times we even tend to forget that his above all we do. I respect that each and everyone has their own views about prayer.
This picture is about a kid kneeling down praying with a tears falling on her chick. I mean when I was young I never understood what this picture meant, but it’s now that I’m older I look at it and get the concept of it. She is young and probably doesn’t understand what it is to kneel and pray. Meaning she was brought up from a family that is Christian oriented.
It touches my heart because this girl is young yet she still has the strength to kneel and pray.
At such an age she knows that you need to thank the Lord, or better yet praise him. She gives me hope and strength to also look up to God and jus call on his name despite what we going through. It’s a heartfelt picture I must say.

A Sister I Never Had..

KAREN MAOKOMATANDA!!!.
A sister I never had. I am the only girl in my family and I’m surrounded by boys in my family. The only person I had closer to a sister was and is my mum. But when I met Karen she is that other sister I never got to have.
We share the same character. We both hard headed. But I must say she takes the winning trophy of being a hard head. She is stubborn, when you try to advise her it’s as though it’s coming in one ear and going out the other ear. She will give you grief of simply telling her something she knows it’s true and is a strong fact.
She is understanding and is a rare breed. Karen brings the light in my darkest hours. She broke my heart when she asked if I could be her maid of honor on her wedding day. Not even my cousins have asked me to pose as such on their big days. But there is someone I met this year but we just automatically clicked.
So many of our mutual friends have always questioned how we got along so well and too soon. I don’t quite have an answer for them, but I can say she’s a person that understood who Yvonne is and what Yvonne is about. Something that is not quite simple but she took the time to learn who I am.
